Come walk around my garden studio.
Welcome. This gallery gives you a flavour of the pottery I make. I do not currently have an online shop (but sign up to my mailing list for updates).
I work from this small garden studio which is lovely in the summer but more challenging in the winter.
All my pottery is made from stoneware fired to 1250 degrees Celsius and is dishwasher and microwave safe. Each piece has a foot-ring that I diamond sand after firing to give a silky finish.
I keep to a limited colour palette. My four main glazes are green, rust red, tenmoku and matt white. I use three more to create overlaid splashes, spirals or arcs in vivid ochre, gold and turquoise.
Burnished work is glazed with dots or veils in four main designs: Endocytosis (usually green), Cells (usually rust red), Stretch (tenmoku and green) and Circles (white, green, rust red and Tenmoku).
The pea in the images is to give a sense of size. I’m bidding for it to becomes the the SI unit for pottery scaling …
Sacha the cat loves to be involved and is a notorious photobomber.
The studio is a work in progress. I don’t have running water and it’s tricky managing all the pottery processes in a small space (along with over-wintering lemon plants, etc).
But the bird song and views of the garden make up for it.
